Union telecom and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Monday tabled the Telecommunication Bill in Lok Sabha that aims to do away with the three archaic laws – the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933, and the Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1950.
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, ratified in August this year, mandates that any company or individual collecting, managing or working with data from other users must obtain explicit consent from them bytelling them about the purpose for which the said data has been obtained.
