Over the last century, the small but mighty island Republic of Malta has cemented itself as an appealing global destination for major film productions.

Brazil’s Spcine, the city of São Paulo’s film-TV body, is launching the third edition of its cash rebate program, which prioritizes international projects looking to shoot in the vibrant city and state.

Three years after a strategic plan to promote foreign film shoots and investment, the Spanish location sector is booming, but there’s still room to grow: "We have managed to increase our competitiveness."

"Whenever I have a project that needs a European-looking city, my direct path is to Budapest," says veteran producer Robert Lantos.

The idea is to capitalize on the buzz already prevalent due to the theatrical success as well as bring in a fresh set of audiences who may not have visited cinemas.

For any kind of sustainability, it is crucial that the delivery of these services on such a network remains affordable. “Ensuring that any new or expensive technology becomes accessible to the larger population of the country is essential,” he said.

Telcos have for long demanded that communication apps be regulated as they offer similar services without the security and financial obligations attached to a licensee.

"The treaty, which is also open to non-European countries, sets out a legal framework that covers the entire lifecycle of AI systems and addresses the risks they may pose, while promoting responsible innovation," the Council of Europe said in a statement.

This marks the first step towards the completion of the merger deal between Reliance Industries' Viacom18 and The Walt Disney Company's Star India, which will form a Rs 70,000 crore behemoth.
