Riding the worldwide popularity of K-content, the streamer's new offerings span genres such as crime, sci-fi, romance, drama and reality.

The move has not sat easily with Contents Panda, the Korean sales company which had pre-sold the film to more than 30 overseas distributors.

In Los Angeles, a raft of dramas, sitcoms and talk shows have canceled or suspended production, affecting over 200,000 workers. In Canada’s main film hub of Toronto, virtually all production had already been suspended, in total affecting 30,000 jobs. Forty-eight out of 51 productions have been shut down in British Columbia, mainly in the Vancouver area, affecting more than 20,000 workers.

Abhishek Rege, CEO at production firm EndemolShine India, said that the losses for the broadcast industry will be huge even if people watch re-runs.
