n this Industry Spotlight with Creative First, Writer, Director, Producer & Filmmaker Anup Singh joined Lohita Sujith, Sr. Director, Copyright & Digital Economy, Motion Picture Association, to discuss his creative journey, the influence of Film Bazaar on his work, and the evolution of his storytelling.

Reflecting on Film Bazaar’s role, Anup described it as a platform deeply rooted in passion, offering filmmakers a supportive environment for collaboration and self-discovery. He highlighted how the co-production market helped refine Qissa and other projects by fostering dialogues that reveal the resonance of one’s work while sharpening creative and market-savvy skills. Film Bazaar also encouraged him to discern partnerships that align with his vision, emphasizing the importance of shared passion in co-productions.

Anup explained how his work consistently delves into the interconnectedness of life and the world around us, with themes of co-existence and non-violation central to his storytelling. He credited Film Bazaar for bridging the gap between India’s rich regional narratives and the global stage, likening its role to uncovering a hidden stream in the vast mountainscape of Indian cinema, allowing quieter, everyday stories to emerge and find their audience.

For aspiring filmmakers, Anup advised approaching Film Bazaar with openness—embracing diverse feedback while maintaining clarity about their creative intentions. He underscored the importance of perseverance and the courage to say no when necessary, championing a balance between creativity and market sensibility.
