In this Industry Spotlight with Creative First, Vivek Krishnani, President & Chief Executive Officer, MovieVerse Studios (an IN10 Media Network Company), joined Lohita Sujith, Sr. Director, Copyright & Digital Economy, Motion Picture Association, to discuss his evolving vision for regional storytelling and studio-building in India. Drawing on decades of experience with theatrical and digital platforms, Vivek explored how MovieVerse is leveraging regional narratives—across languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Gujarati—to create culturally rooted content with both local resonance and global appeal.

Vivek emphasized that creative risk must be grounded in commercial pragmatism, outlining a three-part approach to greenlighting content: emotional universality, audience appetite, and scalability across formats. He stressed that India’s regional industries offer rich storytelling potential and undiscovered acting talent, especially in tier 2 and 3 cities—audiences he termed “Bharat,” whose loyalty and cinema-going habits are crucial to the industry’s future.

Reflecting on the current landscape, he discussed the need for studios to evolve from financing units to creative content hubs. This shift, he noted, is essential for India’s ambition to become a global content powerhouse. He called for structural support—including a vibrant talent ecosystem, meaningful financial incentives, and regional film infrastructure clusters—to make filmmaking more accessible and sustainable across geographies.

Vivek also shared details on MovieVerse’s upcoming regional and Hindi-language projects, including films with Nayanthara and Prasoon Pandey, and discussed the growing role of AI in content production—from dubbing to budgeting to visual development. While acknowledging that the tech is still maturing, he stressed that its rapid evolution requires creators and studios to adapt thoughtfully and strategically.
