Anup’s first feature film The Name of a River was a documentary-style film which won the Silver Dhow Prize at the 5th Zanzibar International Film Festival. His next film Qissa was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival where it won the Netpac Award for The Best International Asian Film. The Song of Scorpions is a Swiss-French-Singaporean Rajasthani language drama film written and directed by him and the movie had its world premiere at the 70th Locarno Film Festival. His next feature film project Lasya – The Gentle Dance picked up the CNC (France) prize at the Locarno 2011 Open Doors industry days. He now teaches at a film school in Geneva. He graduated in literature and philosophy from the Bombay University and holds a Diploma in Direction from the Film and TV Institute of India, Pune.
