In a recent submission to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), telecom companies such as Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, and Vi have reiterated an old demand that they should be able to charge some internet-based intermediaries such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, WhatsApp higher than others as the data consumption due to the use of these apps put pressure on the network.
